What are the responsibilities and job description for the Courier - PRN position at Cardiovascular Institute of the South?
LOCATION IN ORGANIZATION:
The position requires travel to various CIS offices and reports directly to the positions respective Office Team Leaders for all matters, including job duties, performance evaluations, approval of leave, and other assignments as deemed necessary by the Office Team Leader, Chief Operations Officer, Chief Compliance Officer or Chief Executive Officer for the benefit of CIS.
GENERAL NATURE OF DUTIES:
Performs courier and mailroom activities; does related work as required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Take instructions from hospital or lab personnel relative to transporting pharmaceuticals, specimens, test results and other medical documents.
- Ensure that proper information regarding items to be couriered is attained before embarking on the journey
- Make sure that all required documentation is in place and ensures that all deliveries to be made are accounted for.
- Use cell phones or tablets to upload time or delivery and shipment information onto the company website or database in real time.
- Maintains designated routes for delivery and pickup tasks.
- Ensures that all specimens, medicines or documents are properly secured in the vehicle and that transport vehicle is locked and secured when Courier is away from the vehicle.
- Make sure that items that require refrigeration are refrigerated properly.
- Deliver items to the destination in a time-efficient manner and ensure the safety of all items being handled by the courier.
- Obtain signatures on receipts and make sure that any special information regarding the item is passed on to the recipient
- Keep inventory of delivered lab items and document logs of picked-up specimens
- Record fuel mileage and ensure appropriate maintenance on the vehicle to ward off any delivery problems. Courier must be cognizant of any mechanical issues that may arise from use of the transport vehicle and must report such concerns to his/her team leader for repair.
- Ensures that CIS is represented in a courteous and professional manner at all times and in all facilities.
- Use good judgement regarding the courier’s ability to drive in hazardous weather, during times of traffic congestion, and during times of driver fatigue.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
1. High school diploma
2. Good communication skills
