The Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide advanced practice nursing services to patients with cardiovascular conditions. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and physical exams of patients with cardiovascular concerns.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
- Prescribe medications, and educate patients about their medications, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up care.
- Provide patient education on cardiovascular health, disease prevention, and management.
- Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Participate in patient consultations and hospital rounds as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Stay current on the latest advancements in cardiology and contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical care.
- Graduate of accredited schools of nursing, AND
- Current licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, AND
- Satisfactory completion of a formal education program preparing graduates to practice advanced practice nursing, AND
- A minimum of a Masters Degree with concentration in the respective nursing specialty area, AND
- Current licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse, AND
- Current certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, AND
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification are both required.
- Successful completion of assigned EKG Courses within 12 months
- Effective communications skills.
- Advanced credentials and / or certification in any field of medicine or nursing.
