Position Summary:
This position's main responsibility is to expand community awareness of Care and Share’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) services and work with potential participants to complete applications. Helps people who may be unfamiliar with the program, the application process, or cannot complete the application alone. Provides timely individualized assistance by phone or in person. Educates the public about SNAP and the support that Care and Share provides, as well as other community resources.
This is a grant-funded position and is subject to annual appropriation.
***The first 60 days of this position will require regular travel to Pueblo for training.***
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reaches out to community members and partners to expand awareness. Works with the SNAP Manager to create partnerships with other community organizations. Attends community events, fairs, and forums to provide SNAP application assistance.
- Assists potential program participants over the phone or in person by submitting accurate SNAP applications. Provides information, answers questions, and discusses next steps.
- Audits Care and Share's database regularly to ensure all relevant applicant data has been captured. Inputs data into the database as needed.
- Assists the SNAP Manager with Care and Share's SNAP Ambassador program by training community volunteers and answering questions as needed.
- Fields public phone calls, emails, and texts; responds to inquiries promptly. Provides information about SNAP, Care and Share, and other community resources.
- Maintains knowledge of SNAP policy and procedure to provide accurate information and quality assistance to potential program participants.
- Collaborates with stakeholders regularly, including the State of Colorado and Feeding America, to provide feedback and suggestions for program improvement.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Proficient with various video conference software
- Excellent customer service skills

- Self-motivated
- Ability to help people experiencing crises
- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
Education and Experience:
- 3 years of customer service experience, including over-the-phone work
- Experience de-escalating customers/clients
- Experience working with a diverse population
- Experience working with people in crisis
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Travel Requirements:
- Must have valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and automobile insurance that meets Colorado’s minimum standards.
- Frequent travel throughout Colorado is required.
