Nuru Staffing is looking for a caring and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team at our Behavior Health Center in Lawrence, MA. PMHNP must be able to work independently in the state of MA and not under supervision of a doctor.
We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in autism diagnosis that conducts comprehensive evaluations of individuals suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), utilizing standardized tests and clinical observations to assess cognitive abilities, social communication skills, behavioral patterns, and overall functioning, with the goal of providing an accurate diagnosis and informing individualized treatment plans.
Key aspects of a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner role in autism diagnosis:
Conducting detailed assessments: This includes administering standardized tests like the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) to evaluate social interaction, communication, repetitive behaviors, and restricted interests, alongside other cognitive assessments to measure areas like language, memory, and reasoning abilities.
Gathering information from multiple sources: Taking thorough developmental history from parents and caregivers, interviewing teachers or other relevant individuals to gain a holistic understanding of the individual's functioning across different environments.
Interpreting test results: Analyzing data from the assessments to identify patterns of strengths and weaknesses, specifically focusing on areas related to social communication, cognitive abilities, and behavioral characteristics that may be indicative of ASD.
Diagnosing ASD: Based on the comprehensive evaluation, providing a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, considering the severity level and specific presentation of symptoms.
