Volunteer Medical Assistant (2-Week Trial) – Opportunity for Pre-Health Students

Location: Sugar Land, TX
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 10:00-5:00pm
Compensation: Volunteer for 2 weeks; eligible for a paid position upon successful demonstration of work ethic

Job Description:

We are offering a 2-week volunteer opportunity for pre-health students interested in gaining hands-on experience in a home health care setting. This role is perfect for individuals looking to develop administrative skills in a medical environment while working alongside healthcare professionals. After successfully demonstrating strong work ethic, professionalism, and reliability during the trial period, volunteers will be considered for a full-time, paid Medical Office Assistant position.

Responsibilities:

• Organizing and maintaining patient files and medical records
• Calling patients to schedule and confirm home health visits
• Coordinating appointments with nurses, physical therapists (PTs), and occupational therapists (OTs)
• Assisting with data entry and document management
• Handling phone calls and general office communication
• Providing administrative support to healthcare staff
• Ensuring an organized and efficient office environment

Requirements:

• Pre-med students are highly encouraged to apply
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently and efficiently
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with Kinnser software is a plus but not required
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. for potential employment after the trial period
