Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Job Summary:
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is responsible for assisting the surgical team during operative procedures. They ensure that the operating room is prepared for surgery, assist with surgical procedures, and help maintain a sterile environment. The CST plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during surgery.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare the operating room for surgery by setting up instruments and equipment.
2. Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
3. Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
4. Handle specimens according to hospital protocols.
5. Assist with patient positioning and transportation.
6. Clean and sterilize instruments after surgery.
7. Restock supplies in the operating room.
8. Adhere to all hospital policies and protocols regarding patient safety and infection control.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
3. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
4. Previous experience working in a surgical setting preferred.
5. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Current BLS certification.
