Job Title: Pulmonary Function Tech (PFT), Polysomnographer
Job Summary:
As a Pulmonary Function Tech (PFT) and Polysomnographer, you will be responsible for conducting diagnostic tests to evaluate the function of the lungs and respiratory system, as well as monitoring and analyzing sleep study results to diagnose sleep disorders. Your role will be crucial in helping physicians diagnose and treat patients with respiratory and sleep-related conditions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volume measurements, and diffusion capacity testing
- Administer bronchodilator and exercise challenges as needed
- Calibrate and maintain equipment used in pulmonary function testing
- Prepare and assist patients with sleep studies, including attaching electrodes and monitoring equipment
- Monitor patients during sleep studies to ensure accurate data collection
- Analyze sleep study results and prepare reports for physician review
- Educate patients on proper testing procedures and equipment usage
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy or related field preferred
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Certification in Polysomnography (RPSGT) preferred for polysomnography duties
- Proficiency in conducting and interpreting pulmonary function tests
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow testing protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
