Position Overview
Be a part of a nonprofit organization committed to harnessing the power of law, informed advocacy, and strategic partnerships to reform Washington's fish and wildlife management and ensuring the state is ready to face the threats posed by the global extinction crisis, climate change, and habitat loss. As the Development and Fundraising Director, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a successful fundraising plan and will work closely with the executive director and the advocacy director on the development and implementation of a joint communications and outreach strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan, including annual goals, resource needs, and tracking mechanisms
- Collaborate with the executive director and board to create revenue forecasts and a communications strategy for outreach and advocacy
- Conceive and plan fundraising events, maintain a master calendar, and ensure consistent and compelling website and social media content
- Assist in board recruitment, donor cultivation, and the development of high-net-worth donor relationships
- Manage grant opportunities, donor stewardship, and planned giving initiatives
- Provide regular progress reports to the executive director and board
- Oversee the creation of fundraising materials, annual reports, and donor communications, utilizing tools like DonorPerfect and Constant Contact
- Coordinate outreach efforts, including social media, advertising, and community engagement, while tracking and analyzing communication metrics
- Lead and organize volunteer outreach activities and identify speaking opportunities for the executive director and advocacy director
Qualifications
- Commitment to creating a better future for Washington’s fish and wildlife
- 5 years of experience in animal advocacy or the nonprofit sector, with a strong fundraising and development background
- High motivation, energy, and confidence, with a professional appearance and demeanor
- Strong strategic, organizational, and planning skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse individuals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Extensive experience in nonprofit communications and media strategy
- Ability to develop and implement a fundraising program independently
- Comfortable working quickly, both independently and in a small team, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Expertise in systems for tracking development, communications, and member involvement
- Commitment to accuracy and detail
- Proficiency with DonorPerfect or similar CRM platforms, grant management software, basic computer applications, email marketing software, graphic design tools, and social media platforms
- WordPress skills are a plus
- Confident in handling various challenges, adaptable to change, and eager to learn new skills
Compensation
- Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
