Position Overview
Be a part of a nonprofit organization committed to advocating for and protecting the human rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This includes actively supporting their full inclusion in the community and enhancing their quality of life through advocacy, empowerment, education, and prevention efforts. As the Director of Development, you will be responsible for oversee all activities within the Development Department, including hiring, training, disciplining, and evaluating staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage Development Department activities, including special events, fundraising, planned giving, membership, public relations, and communications.
- Oversee the creation of newsletters, annual reports, brochures, presentations, and other publications
- Manage the organization's website and social media platforms
- Support and guide volunteer involvement in fundraising and public relations efforts
- Explore, develop, and implement new fundraising and planned giving initiatives
- Cultivate relationships with potential donors
- Establish and maintain media contacts to increase public awareness
- Represent the organization in presentations to community groups, schools, and other audiences
- Build and sustain partnerships with organizations, agencies, and governmental bodies in Monmouth County
- Lead capital fundraising campaigns
- Organize, attend, and document various meetings, trainings, and presentations
- Research and prepare grant proposals for foundations and other funding sources
- Prepare and oversee the Development Department's budget
- Generate narrative, statistical, and other reports
- Collaborate with other departments to support the organization's mission
- Coordinate joint promotional and fundraising activities with other chapters
- Assist in organizing membership and informational meetings
- Supervise the evaluation of department activities and submit related reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years' experience in development or fundraising
- Managerial experience required
- Background in public relations and communications preferred
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Valid New Jersey driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Compensation
- Salary: $90,000 - $110,000
