Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Wood Fabricator and Bench Hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the production process by working with wood materials to create custom products, prepare wood components for assembly, and perform various woodworking tasks. This position requires proficiency in using woodworking machinery, hand tools, and attention to detail to ensure high-quality production.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate and assemble wood products and components according to specifications and blueprints.
Operate and maintain woodworking machinery, including saws, drills, routers, sanders, and other power tools.
Measure and cut wood to the required dimensions using hand tools and machinery.
Sand, finish, and prepare wood surfaces for coating or further processing.
Ensure quality control by inspecting materials and finished products for defects and ensuring they meet company standards.
Assist with the preparation and assembly of wood products, including cutting, drilling, and joining pieces.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to adhere to safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with team members to meet production deadlines and ensure smooth workflow.
Follow safety guidelines and maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Assist in the loading and unloading of materials as necessary.
Provide general support in other manufacturing tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in woodworking, carpentry, or a similar field is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
Strong knowledge of woodworking tools, machinery, and materials.
Physical ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
Detail-oriented with good hand-eye coordination.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Familiarity with safety standards and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in the fabrication of custom wood products or cabinetry.
Basic knowledge of wood finishing techniques (e.g., staining, varnishing).
Forklift operation certification (optional, but beneficial).
Ability to use computer software for design or inventory management (optional).
Work Environment:
This position will be based in a manufacturing workshop environment. The role involves regular exposure to power tools, machinery, and wood dust, requiring adherence to safety protocols and wearing protective gear such as goggles, gloves, and hearing protection.
