Job Summary
Seeking an analytical individual with finance, accounting, or utility operations experience to analyze and interpret data to determine financial impact. The Project Specialist has responsibilities with the State & Regulatory Affairs department. Acts as a technical expert in financial analysis of underlying regulatory matters. Will represent the company to regulators on varying issues which have a significant impact.
Job Responsibilities
- Supports and coordinates various state regulatory filings.
- Track regulatory reporting requirements.
- Interact with various business units in the support of regulatory filings.
- Attend regulatory meetings and summarize Commission decisions, distribute memorandums and documents from the meeting to other Regulatory, Legislative, Legal, Financial employees who need to know details.
- Monitor regulatory activities within the state and nearby jurisdictions. Track other utility regulatory activity.
- Compiles dept reports.
- May represent the company as a witness in regulatory proceedings.
Minimum Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mathematics, or a related degree.
- Project Specialist 1: Minimum of one year of professional experience in utility operations or related field preferred with an emphasis in accounting or finance.
- Project Specialist 2: Minimum of three years of experience in utility operations or related field preferred with an emphasis in accounting or finance.
- Project Specialist 3: Minimum of five years of experience, with demonstrated expertise/experience in the specific area being sought i.e. regulatory construction, load research, forecasting, etc.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to learn and grasp technical concepts (mathematical, economics, etc.), function as a team player, have strong initiative and have solid interpersonal and communications skills.
- Proven ability to forge relationships internal and external to the organization.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as individually.
- Possess an understanding of finance and accounting principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Accounting or Finance experience preferred.

Pay Range Minimum: $66,898.00
Pay Range Maximum: $132,708.94
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
