Job Purpose
The Resource Officer provides overall security to the interior and exterior of the school building. The Resource Officer is responsible for the safety of all persons inside of the school building and always remains alert looking for anything out of the ordinary throughout the school day.

- Maintain the Career Prep School staff PBIS store
Threat Assessment/ Safety Plans
- Observe, identify and respond to safety and security incidents and situations as well as acts as a deterrent to crime and other unlawful activity by providing high visibility throughout the campus
Student Discipline
- Ensures that all discipline actions align with school policies
- Protect and enforce school rules
De-escalation
- Use communication techniques to diffuse, redirect, or de-escalate a conflict situation
Retention
- Establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders
- Participate in student retention and engagement events with Principal and staff
- Treat students, staff and all visitors with respect
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Control building access for employees, visitors, students, and outside contractors
- Performs security checks on all students entering the building to ensure no objects are brought into the building that may be harmful to themselves, other students, staff or any visitors in the school
- Ensure all building visitors sign in and out of the visitor logs
- Patrol campus parking lots and surrounding grounds/facilities, noting dangers (potential and existing), defects or violations
- Patrol interior of building by performing hallways walkthroughs and checking school rooms throughout the day
- Conduct thorough security and safety checks of school, to include checking for open doors, windows, and/or other unsafe conditions
- Respond to emergencies and suspicious activity, investigates incidents, and prepares reports.
- Respond in a timely manner to emergency calls for assistance
- Administer first aid and/or call for additional assistance from police, fire, or ambulance service as needed
- Value student academics and acts as mentor and role model for students
- Assist with the school?s bus pass procedure as needed
- Perform all other job duties as assigned
