Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
- Monitor client health and behavior, reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's specific needs and goals.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while maintaining client confidentiality.
- Engage clients in social activities and community integration to promote social skills and independence.
- Perform light housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a safe and clean environment for clients.
- Assist with heavy lifting when necessary for mobility or transportation of clients.
Experience
- Previous experience in social work, caregiving, home health, or long-term care is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and the ability to provide compassionate care is essential.
- Skills in cooking nutritious meals that cater to dietary restrictions are a plus.
