The Director/Dispatch & Gas Control is responsible for the strategic planning, budget oversight, and the execution of all facets of the Dispatch and Gas Control functions at Southwest Gas Corporation and Great Basin Gas Transmission Company. Strategic and tactical emphasis is on providing technical leadership to the Dispatch and Gas Control functions and continuously evaluating related engineering technology to ensure the Company's distribution and transmission systems are operating efficiently and safely within capacity design. POSITION DIMENSIONS
Reporting directly to this position are up to seven exempt employees. The incumbent is responsible for a budget up to $13MM. The Director reports to the Vice President/Engineering Staff and collaborates with Operations Vice Presidents and other key Operations and Corporate leadership positions to ensure that the Dispatch and Gas Control functions are meeting the goals and expectations of internal and external customers, ensuring compliance with Company and PHMSA requirements, and ensuring the efficient and effective dispatching of operations’ personnel in support of customer and public safety on a 24/7/365 basis. The incumbent frequently exchanges information with professional level personnel and various levels of employees outside of the Engineering Staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
There are broad precedents and practices that the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how the job is performed. This position requires a minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience. A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
•Oversee the strategy and operations of the Dispatch and Gas Control functions through technical and strategic leadership ensuring the Company's distribution and transmission systems are operating safely and efficiently, on a 24/7/365 basis.
•Develop and implement strategies and tactical operational plans to ensure Company and department goals and initiatives are achieved, while ensuring compliance with applicable tariffs, regulations, and Company policies/procedures.
•Direct the administration of pipeline management technology to operate the Company's distribution and transmission systems proactively, efficiently, and safely in accordance with new and existing regulations, mitigating the risk of public safety and Company assets through operational surveillance and predictive modeling.
•Provide technical oversight of the operations of the Company-wide Dispatch function across all operating divisions.
•Direct the design and implementation of scenario-based training for in-house pipeline operators using pipeline management technology to ensure the safe and secure management of the Company's distribution and transmission systems in compliance with applicable regulations and operator qualification requirements.
•Direct the continuous review of scenario-based training to ensure continuous enhancement of such training and compliance with applicable regulations as such regulations are changed/updated by the regulators.
•Lead and support innovations and continuous process improvements through operational and quality best practices while fostering a culture of excellence.
•Direct engineering analysis and system support for the Company's emergency response centers during emergencies.
•Oversee/identify the development and implementation of solutions to problems which impact or may impact Gas Control's reliability and improve productivity.
• Apply engineering principles and techniques related to engineering technologies and system-wide support while exhibiting sound judgment in pursuit of continuous improvement including the analysis and interpretation of statistical data in order to resolve engineering technology-related problems to ensure service levels are consistently met.
•Direct the evaluation of technologies, processes, and procedures and approve enhancements for Dispatch and Gas Control.
•Provide advisory services to management throughout the Company with regard to Dispatch and Gas Control for existing or changing processes, procedures, and system.
•Direct the performance and review of studies to determine costs, benefits, and impact of proposed system changes.
•Develop and maintain effective organization of responsibility, including efficient recruiting, training, coaching, recognition, and workflow patterns while motivating, training, and evaluating staff members.
•Represent the Company with industry advocacy groups through committee and task force
participation.
•Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

SALARY DETAILS
Las Vegas: $166,200 - $257,600
