Essex North Shore seeks a Facilities Compliance Safety Officer to join the Facilities, Farm, and Grounds team. The Facilities Compliance Safety Officer will work under the direction of the Director of Facilities, Farm, and Grounds.
The Facilities Compliance Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant working and learning environment across all vocational programs, science laboratories, farm locations, and campus facilities on a 166-acre property. This role involves overseeing safety policies, implementing OSHA standards, managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The position requires proactive safety inspections, staff training, emergency planning, hazard communications, and risk mitigation strategies to promote a safety culture for students, staff, and visitors.
This is a twelve (12) month, salaried, 260 day position. Please be advised that it is 0.6 FTE which is approximately 25 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction Certification required.
- 5 years of experience in environmental health & safety, preferably in an educational or vocational setting.
- Familiarity with Massachusetts DLS, NFPA fire codes, and EPA regulations is highly desirable.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Satisfactory CORI, SORI, and SAFIS required.
