The Process Performance Engineer at Bakery de France is responsible for optimizing and improving production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency in the bakery’s operations. This role combines technical expertise in process engineering with a strong understanding of food production to drive continuous improvement, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices in manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Process Optimization and Improvement:
- Continuously monitor and evaluate bakery production processes to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reduction.
- Develop and implement process improvements in areas such as mixing, proofing, baking, cooling, and packaging.
- Design, test, and scale new processes or modifications to existing processes to enhance performance while maintaining product quality.
- Conduct time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks and streamline workflows.
Performance Monitoring and Data Analysis:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from production lines to assess process performance, product yield, and quality.
- Use performance metrics such as throughput, cycle time, waste, energy usage, and product quality to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement process control systems, monitor KPIs, and use data analytics tools to track and enhance process performance.
Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis:
- Diagnose process-related issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams (maintenance, production, QA) to develop solutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis on production failures or quality issues and develop corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure adherence to troubleshooting protocols and document findings and resolutions.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support:
- Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and resolve any process-related challenges.
- Partner with the Quality Assurance team to ensure product consistency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide technical support to maintenance teams to ensure that equipment is operating optimally.
Project Management:
- Lead or support projects aimed at improving process flow, reducing waste, or introducing new products or new equipment.
- Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within scope.
- Provide training to employees on new processes, equipment, or improvements.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all process improvements and changes comply with food safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Promote and enforce safety standards within production areas to minimize hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Food Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in process engineering or a related role, preferably within a food manufacturing or bakery environment.
- Strong understanding of food production processes, specifically in a commercial or industrial bakery setting.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to interpret complex data.
- Proficient in process simulation tools, data analysis software (Excel, SPC software, etc.), and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance regulations (FDA, HACCP, SQF).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining focus on quality and efficiency.
Certifications:
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher (preferred, but not required).
- Food safety certifications (HACCP, PCQI) a plus.
Working Conditions:
- The position is primarily based in a commercial bakery facility with exposure to a production environment (e.g., dust, noise, machinery).
- May require occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate production schedules or project timelines.
- Regular travel within the plant or to suppliers/vendors may be required.
