We are seeking an energetic Difference-Maker to join our team as a Career Advisor for the Welfare Transition and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs.
YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF:
You enjoy developing Individual Responsibility Plans with our customers and engage them in fulfilling those plans leading to their economic success.
You can determine what activities or assessments to give participants within our State and Federal guidelines that will best lead to their success and make changes as needed.
You consider yourself detail oriented and can maintain customer files in the One Stop Service Tracking (OSST) system daily to update and report participant work activities and progress. Entering all documented activity hours, utilizing supporting documentation and case noting when received is a key to your organizational success.
You can identify customers barriers to employment and refer them to support services needed throughout our organization and the community to maximize their success.
Recording customer interactions and activities in clear, concise cases notes helps you track customers progress and is part of your approach to successful case management.
You can coordinate closely with CareerSource Escarosa's Business Services unit and area employers to facilitate the hiring of our participants leading to economic self-sufficiency.
You can identify non-compliance with program guidelines and request appropriate sanctions/penalties through the Department of Children and Families to get them back on the path to success.
You can appropriately assign customers by coordinating with Physicians, Psychologists, domestic violence counselors and other specialist as needed
You can refer and enroll pregnant/parenting teens to the appropriate education facilities for completion of Vocational Education, High School, GED, or other agencies as needed.
You can maintain and track participant's progress in educational facilities to include attendance, grades, and overall progress towards completion to and assist with counseling when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in career counseling, educational/guidance counseling, human service, or related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Two years counseling, case management, or related experience is required.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to provide positive, outstanding customer service. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to interact positively with a variety of personalities and socio-economic populations. Problem-solving skills, organizational skills, time management skills, and excellent oral and written communications skills are essential. Computer keyboarding skills (40 words per minute) along with proficiency in a variety of computer software applications are required, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Employ Florida, Welfare Transition and SNAP programs, and OSST is a plus.
Travel throughout Santa Rosa and Escambia Counties may be required, as well as occasional overnight travel to areas outside the two county areas. A valid Florida driver's license and access to a reliable insured motor vehicle is required.
Licensure/Certification requirements: The incumbent must possess or obtain certification as a Workforce Professional Tier l within 90 days of employment in this position, in addition to completing Florida Ready to Work credentials in Soft Skills and Digital Skills.
A level II background check and drug screening will be conducted before a final offer of employment is made.
