Activities Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging activities for participants in a Adult Day Program setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for individuals, particularly those with dementia and disabilities. This role is essential in promoting social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being through recreational therapy and planned events.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and implementation of daily activities and events tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
• Facilitate group activities, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and exercise programs.
• Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require additional assistance or encouragement to participate.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure that activities are aligned with residents' care plans.
• Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
• Document participation levels and feedback from residents to help improve future programming.
• Engage with families to encourage their involvement in activities and events.

Experience

• Previous experience in caregiving or working within long-term care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is preferred.
• Familiarity with dementia care practices and recreational therapy techniques is highly desirable.
• Skills in event planning and organization are beneficial for creating engaging programs.
• A compassionate approach towards individuals with disabilities, ensuring their dignity and respect at all times.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with residents, families, and staff members.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
