What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Cares of Western PA?
CARES full-time staff receive a company vehicle to use for getting to and from work and for the entire workday because you'll be transporting our Participants (VIPs)!
Do you have a passion for helping others and desire a meaningful job you love? Cares of Western PA needs full-time Direct Support Professionals to support adults with intellectual disabilities with the ultimate goal of gaining independence and community integration at the Carnegie Campus of our community-based day program. Specifically, we are looking for someone to pick up our VIPs at their home in the Canonsburg area, transport them to our Carnegie Campus and work throughout the day in the Carnegie area before driving the VIPs back to their home in the Canonsburg area at the end of the day.
Locations needed for the Carnegie area:
Canonsburg Area
Your work week will look like this:
- Monday - Friday
- 8 am - 4 pm
- No Nights
- No Weekends
- No Holidays
With CARES programs approximately 75% of the time, here's what you'll be doing:
- Helping participants become a valuable part of their community.
- Volunteering for non-profits.
- Helping our VIPs learn life skills and prevocational skills.

Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Ability to pass physical/TB test.
- Ability to pass criminal background checks.
- Experience helpful, but not necessary. Complete PAID training provided.
