The Clinical Lead reports to the Practice Manager and provides day-to-day assistance to clinic staff and others. Helps to maintain focus on high standards of performance, patient, employee, and physician satisfaction, and clinical quality and operational efficiency and improvements. The clinical lead performs the direct service duties of the Licensed Practical Nurse and/or Certified Medical Assistant (as applicable) daily. The Lead is responsible for providing staff precepting training, assessment and skill/competency, guiding staff and overall contributing to many aspects of people engagement and excellence in service delivery. Overall contributes to an effective and efficient delivery of high-quality clinical care for patients. Floats to all locations as needed and is the ultimate team player.
QUALIFICATIONS (Meets qualification in one of two possible tracks below):
Track # 1-As a Medical Assistant:
Education
Graduate of one of the following post-secondary medical assisting education programs that included medical terminology, pharmacology, medical lab techniques and accredited by:
- National Healthcareer Association or;
- Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or;
- Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools or;
- Any accrediting agency by the US Dept of Education
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years prior experience with Primary Care CMA direct patient care work required.
- Demonstrated aptitude in leadership skills required.
- Experience with Athena EMR preferred.
Certification, License, Registration
*Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant required issue by:
- American Association of Medical Assistants or;
- National Center for Competency Testing or;
- National Certification Medical Association or;
- American Medical Technologists or;
- Any other recognized certifying body of approved by the Board of Medical Examiners or;
*If working as a CMA as of July 2022, grandfathered & must obtain by no later than July 2024.

Or Track # 2- As an LPN:
Education

Experience
- A minimum of 5 years prior experience with Primary Care LPN direct patient care work required.
- Demonstrated aptitude in leadership skills required.
- Experience with Athena EMR preferred.
Certification, License, Registration
- LPN License in good standing with SCLLR required.
- Current BLS certification required.

ESSENTIAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides on-the-spot assistance to move resources as provider needs are anticipated or staffing plan changes on the fly weekly/daily.
- Assist with special projects and duties as delegated by the Practice Manager.
- Helps conduct daily huddles and other identified “communication” or “check in” meetings.
- Serves as the lead to triage daily practice questions, concerns and developments with even and creative approaches and identifies when to upward transfer situations to Practice Manager.
- Fields Provider and other staff problem solving in an open and tactful fashion.
- Participates in the selection team process for clinic and other organizational areas as requested.
- Provides input into performance management, teamwork and engagement activities.
- Assists with the execution of determined strategic plans and objectives.
- Participates proactively in problem solving and process improvement activities with the team.
- A Primary responsibility is to serve direct patient care to patients as a CMA or LPN as applicable.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Assist with the precepting and orientation and training of clinic staff.
- Oversees the maintenance of adequate medical supply and floor stock medication inventory by inventorying and tracking receipt of inventory.
- Identify and recommend solutions to staff or patients concerns.
- Bridges communication between front desk ops and clinic positively and effectively.
- Diffuses upset situations from staff, patients, families etc. positively and calmly
- Ensures update and maintenance to all inventory logs, such as vaccines, medications, samples, refrigerator temps, point of care testing, and any additional created and necessary logs.
- Careteam staff work together as a team and help each other and patients/clients by performing other duties as assigned.
