Nursing Supervisor Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Supervisor to help lead our nursing team in providing high-quality patient care under direct supervison of Director of Nursing. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of nursing practices, and the ability to manage a diverse team effectively along with being a team player. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment for both staff and patients.
Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and aisstance as needed.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Collaborate with RN and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Oversee daily patient care to ensure all ADL's are met and completed.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist RN & ED in staff training and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with managing staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Address patient concerns and complaints promptly and effectively.
- Monitor quality improvement initiatives within the nursing department.
- Assist with training new staff on different shifts with resident care and MAR systems.
- Weekly medication safety checks for med carts.
- Assist RN with on Call schedule & shift coverage as needed.
- Assist RN with daily follow up orders, faxes, documenting and other as assigned.
- Work medication cart/schedule florr shifts 2-3 days a week with 2 office days.
- All other job duties as assigned.
Experience
- A valid nursing license with proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems such as Epic.
- Strong knowledge of geriatrics in long-term setting.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in Dementia setting.
- Supervisor/ Charge nurse experience
- Working weekends, holidays, and an on call schedule rotation.
