What are the responsibilities and job description for the Thrift Store Associate position at Caring Heart Thrift Store?
Job Expectations
Our ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and have availability primarily between 10 AM and 5 PM during weekdays and rotating Saturdays. Hours will average 15–20 hours per week, based on the store’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome each guest with courtesy and care.
- Assist donors with unloading donations (including heavy furniture).
- Clean, process, and display donations on the sales floor.
- Maintain an organized and attractive sales floor.
- Provide efficient and accurate checkout service at the register.
- Work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Follow all store policies and demonstrate trustworthiness.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds (e.g., furniture and boxes).
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for most of the shift.
Work Environment:
- Moderate to high noise levels with occasional distractions.
- Fast-paced setting requiring the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Requirements
- Exceptional people skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Must pass a thorough background check and drug test due to our work mentoring teenagers.
- Proven ability to maintain composure when dealing with difficult customers or situations.
- Availability to work rotating Saturdays is a must.
