What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sonographer OB/GYN position at Caring Network?

The Sonographer OB/GYN plays a key role in training and supervising nurses to perform limited OB ultrasound procedures while providing continuous assessment and feedback. This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality assurance and ensuring compliance with all clinic policies and regulations. Secondary duties include direct patient care, OB ultrasounds and follow-up. This position requires travel between clinic locations for nurse training and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nurse Training: Train and supervise nurses in performing limited OB ultrasound procedures. Provide ongoing assessment, constructive feedback, and guidance to ensure competency and adherence to clinical standards.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance processes and adhere to all clinic policies and regulations. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure patient confidentiality. Monitor equipment and report any malfunctions to the Nurse Manager.
- Patient Care: Provide comprehensive care by conducting pregnancy and STD tests, gathering basic health histories, providing limited OB ultrasounds, guiding patients through pregnancy options consultations and spiritual assessments, and assisting them in determining next steps in their care journey. Manage follow-up protocols to ensure continuity of care and build patient relationships.
- Travel & Support: Travel to various clinic locations as needed to deliver nurse training, provide clinical support, and ensure the consistent application of OB ultrasound procedures across sites.
Candidate Requirements:
- A committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and is a participant in a local church
- Maintains a consistent life-affirming philosophy and would never refer or advise a woman to have an abortion
- Agree with and be willing to uphold Caring Network’s Statements of Faith and Principle and Core Values
- ARDMS Certification: Must hold an active ARDMS credential with OB/GYN specialization.
- BLS Certification
- 2-3 years of OB ultrasound experience. Training or mentoring experience preferred.
- Available to travel throughout Chicago Metro area up to 50% of the time (NO overnight stays)
- Strong communication, patient care, and technical ultrasound proficiency.
- Attend mandatory medical staff meetings
- Perform additional duties as requested
