Job Description: The Scheduler is responsible for maintaining and coordinating the scheduling of all nursing staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in a skilled nursing facility. The Scheduler ensures that the facility is adequately staffed at all times, in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies. The Scheduler is responsible for ensuring that all scheduling changes are communicated effectively to all relevant parties and that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the master schedule for nursing staff, ensuring adequate coverage of all shifts, 7 days a week.
- Manage scheduling changes, including shift swaps, call-offs, and time off requests, ensuring that staffing levels are maintained at all times.
- Communicate scheduling changes to all relevant parties, including nursing staff, supervisors, and other departments as necessary.
- Collaborate with other members of the nursing team to ensure that staffing levels are aligned with patient care needs and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation related to scheduling, including timesheets and payroll records, is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in the hiring and orientation of new nursing staff, including scheduling training and ensuring that new staff are properly integrated into the scheduling system.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements related to staffing levels and scheduling, and adjust scheduling practices as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Monitor and report on key scheduling metrics, such as overtime hours and staff turnover rates, to identify areas for improvement.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or an associate's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare scheduling, preferably in a skilled nursing facility.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with nursing staff, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of scheduling software or electronic health records (EHRs) preferred.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements related to nursing staff scheduling, including state and federal regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and customer service.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
- The Scheduler may be required to sit for extended periods of time, use a computer, and perform repetitive motions.
- The Scheduler may be required to stand, walk, or bend occasionally.
- The Scheduler may be required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- The Scheduler will work in an office environment in a skilled nursing facility.
- The Scheduler may be required to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet staffing needs.
- The Scheduler may be required to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
