Ship Services Material Handler
Department: Ship Services Job Status: Full Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Sales Manager
Work Schedule: M-F 8:00AM-5:00 PM Positions Supervised: N/A
POSITION SUMMARY:
Ship Service Material Handler is primarily responsible for the flow of merchandise from the point of receiving to product storage and / a timely final fulfillment. This could include receiving, packing, repacking, organizing and storing while using our proprietary inventory software. Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining a clean and safe work environment and able to work with others. Communication is a key asset to this positions as most task are extremely time sensitive. Company can provide an I-Pad Mini, for this function using our proprietary Ship Services program. You must have a clean driving record and be able to obtain Federal credentials to gain access to cruise ships. A valid passport will be required for international travel. Although this is a Monday through Friday job there may be times that some weekend work is required using overtime.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS;
- Ship Service Material Handler will check merchandise and deliveries for accuracy, verifying that quantities received and match bills of lading, purchase orders, and other documents. On filling orders you will be responsible in ensuring products go out accurately and in a timely manner meeting all timelines.
- Ship Service Material Handler may be asked to make last minute deliveries or help with local pick-ups using company vehicles.
Associates:
- Responsible for accurate tracking and documentation of merchandise; Accountable for merchandise and supplies, and ensure compliance with designated inventory levels and help prevent run-outs.
- Provide daily accounting and documentation, and also participate in formal periodic inventory audits. Responsible for external transfers, damaged merchandise, and manufacturer returns. Assist in decreasing merchandise shrinkage by researching inventory discrepancies, and reporting suspicious activities to department supervisor.
- Spot check one different location daily to balance and /or adjust inventory, report those results to your supervisor.
Merchandise Handling:
- Responsible for shipping merchandise and supplies in and out of inventory to internal/ external locations and departments; Specifically, to monitor pulled items from storage, physically move them, stock shelves, and use tracking and communication tools to advise appropriate management about product placement and new inventory levels.
- Organize the ships services areas including but not limited to the office, cage and warehouse and ensure that accurate labeling, logical product placements are maintained at all times in a neat a safe manner. Periodically assist in preparing packages for external shipment to
Customers or Vending Partners.
- Must have the capability to complete deliveries and pick-ups as needed and be comfortable as a Customer Service branch of the business, at all times you represent Carisam.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High School or GED; One-year previous work related warehouse experience and/or prior warehouse material handling experience a plus, but will train. Must have current travel documentation in compliance with US laws; Must have current and valid Florida State Drivers’ License and excellent driving history. Forklift experience a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate in English verbally & in the written language; Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus but not required.
- Proficient computer skills must include Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn new systems.

- Ability to obtain Company sponsored federal government identification, Port ID’s and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) cards.
- Strong organization, multi-tasking, versatility, communication, and attention to detail skills required
- Maintain a positive attitude, cooperative nature, and be completely driven by perfection.
- Ability to be self-motivated.
- Proficient knowledge of the use of a wide range of equipment and machines, including power jacks, pricing guns, hoists, and forklifts.
- Strong interpersonal skills; Must be good communicator and have the ability to adapt to new and different tasks with little or no notice.
- Strong commitment to being part of a Team, work well with others.
- Accuracy with basic math and proficient use of a calculator will be required.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- MS Word, Excel, Outlook, JD Edwards program and calculator will be required.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION:
- Experience using handheld scanning devices (R-F Smart)
