Caritas Communities is the largest non-profit owner of Single Room Occupancy (SRO) housing in Greater Boston – serving over 1,000 people annually.
The leasing assistant role requires a professional who is excited about a new career opportunity. Someone who is enthusiastic about housing prospective low-income tenants from diverse backgrounds. This person will help assist the leasing department with the operations of affordable housing in the Greater Boston area. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, have strong communication, people, and organizational skills. This position requires an individual to work well independently and with a team, always possessing a professional demeanor, and handle multiple tasks with a good sense of humor. Works patiently, professionally and cooperatively with residents and staff to provide high quality customer service. Enforces and adheres to company policies, rules and regulations.
Responsibilities: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all that may be found in positions of this class.)
- Assist and support the Leasing Department, and special projects in furtherance of successful leasing and compliance processes
- Process move-ins/income certifications/recertifications for multiple affordable housing programs and updates Yardi database
- Coordinate and maintain waitlist
- Following up with applicants on missing paperwork and eligibility
- Run occupancy reports and aid in tracking vacancies and supporting the leasing department to fill those vacancies as quickly as possible (including intakes, interviews, processing and preparation of applications, and their distribution.)
- Support with all administrative responsibilities such as application organization, faxing, copying, greeting applicants when they come to the office, answering and returning phone calls, etc.
- Assist with filing tenant files in hard copy and digital formats
- Collect rental deposits and signed leases/
- Function as point person for Apricot 360 data entry and reporting
- Run other reports as needed
Qualifications:
Experience with basic database functions is a plus.
Certified Occupancy Specialist Designation is preferred, or the ability to acquire certification within a year of start date.
Other industry designations a plus (TCS, SCHM, C3P, etc.)
Administrative background, prior affordable housing experience and/or leasing experience is preferred
Basic math proficiency required. Knowledge of subsidy regulations. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel; highly motivated and able to work independently; ability to handle emergency situations and pressure due to complexity and time-sensitivity; excellent organizational and proofreading skills; attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; high energy; ability to be an active team member within the Company.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
