JOB SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Director is responsible for the smooth and profitable operation of the
organization’s Human Resources Department. They manage all aspects of the organization’s
employment needs to include staff recruitment, training and updating staff on company personnel
policies, procedures, regulations, and monitoring and evaluating human resources systems. They will
provide consultation when requested to management on staffing plans, compensation, benefits,
development, budget, and labor relations. The Human Resources Director will ensure that all human
resource processes comply with federal and state regulatory requirements and procedures.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Promote and practice the Caritas Hospice Care philosophy and mission
- Administers, develops, and interprets human resource policy consistent with legal and
regulatory requirements
- Makes recommendations for creation/revision of policies, procedures, and practices on
personnel matters
- Communicates policy changes to employees and ensures proper compliance
- Acts as arbiter on policy relative to employee relations and directs company in the progressive
discipline process to ensure fair and equal treatment of all employees
- Ensures compliance with all labor laws, regulations, and reporting requirements including but
not limited to, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security
Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, Workers Compensation, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA)
- Ensures the accuracy and security of human resource data, statistics, and personal information
of all employees

- Monitors benefits for potential cost-effectiveness and competitiveness in conjunction with the
CEO/President; conducts/arranges for benefits orientation and other benefits training,
providing materials and ensuring enrollment in a timely manner
- Develops and monitors budget for human resources programs, employee activities, staff
recognition, etc.
- Participates and serves as a resource regarding human resources for all federal, state, and
accrediting body surveys
- Maintains, updates, and evaluates job descriptions, performance evaluation system, and staff
competency assessments
- Maintains active list of all employee held company equipment in conjunction with IT
- Ensures ongoing updating of personnel files within established guidelines
- Leads the recruitment and hiring process and develops associated strategies to assure the
maintenance of a skilled and committed workforce
- Conducts initial interviews of potential hire candidates and provides advice and support to
management in selecting appropriate employees
- Develops and oversees the company’s orientation program and assists with the orientation,
training, and supervision of staff in collaboration with department managers
- Develops and implements new manager orientation/training program(s)
- Evaluates and recommends employee relations practices needed to establish a work culture
comprised of high employee satisfaction, morale, and motivation
- Completes Human Resources Compliance Audit within an agreed-upon time frame
- Assists in special projects and performs other duties as requested
- Incorporates organization’s commitment to customer service and continuous quality
improvement into daily work habits. This includes:
- Promotes positive co-worker and teamwork relationships
- Supports the goals and mission as set forth by the CEO/President and administration of the
agency
- Accepts other responsibilities as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
