Assistant QA Manager

Job Title: Assistant QA Manager
Location: Montgomery, IL

Position Summary: To manage, plan, coordinate and develop the Carl Buddig and Co. Quality Assurance Program designed to ensure the quality and consistency per USDA regulations and the SQF code in all in process and finished meat and poultry products.

Pay range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages and monitors the Quality Assurance process developed for selection, inspection and use of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards, including auditing manufacturing processes and specified standards at supplier sites.
• Interprets quality assurance philosophy to key personnel in the organization.
• Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
• Reviews and verifies daily HACCP paperwork for the Montgomery facility.
• Provides detailed direction for scheduling and completion of internal facility audits.
• Assists with customer complaint trending and resolution.
• Prepares and presents programs to maintain training of all plant employees in policies and programs such as GMPs, HACCP, SSOP’s, and All Company procedures.
• Reviews all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
• Keeps management abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
• Trains Quality Assurance personnel to perform in-plant process inspections and internal audits as required by established plant auditing program.
• Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
• Establishes an active role in plant quality improvement within the organization.
• Regularly interface with USDA IIC when needed to maintain positive communication between regulatory and plant personnel.

Knowledge and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• This position requires a minimum a Bachelors Degree.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of applicable plant quality assurance/control experience.
• This position requires strong meat and poultry processing experience and knowledge of USDA regulations regarding food manufacturing including HACCP, GMPs, Allergens, SSOP’s, SQF code, Recall/Withdrawal.
• Previous experience with plant audits/inspections including third party, city, state and federal is required

Working Condition and Physical Requirements:

• Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, taste or smell.
• The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Light lifting may be required.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold temperatures and moving mechanical parts.
