Position Summary :
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process.
Qualifications :
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License in the State of IL upon hire and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS At least 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse required or demonstrated clinical efficiency ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential Functions :
Clinical ExcellencePerforms procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages and is expected to be the expert in the nursing processes of the Diagnostic and Treatment Services.Practices nursing within the scope of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse licensureOversees and performs thorough and accurate patient assessments to evaluate patient status, analyzes finding and reports significant observations appropriately, enhances family communicationAssumes responsibility for assuring efficient, thorough, and effective interventional case flow in the Medical Imaging DepartmentAdministers medications / conscious sedation safely and effectively following UPH and department policiesControls narcotics and supplies utilizing appropriate documentationMonitors patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions as neededFollows and oversees Joint Commission patient safety goals as well as quality throughout proceduresDemonstrates competency in caring for critically ill patients functioning independently and competently in emergency situationsSet up and uses monitoring equipment including capnography, cardiac output, arterial pressures during proceduresPerforms venipuncture and insertion of peripheral cathetersPerforms adult and pediatric catheterization as neededPerform nursing tasks in the Radiology Department, IR, and nursing floorsPerforms daily inspections such as refrigerator temperature, crash cart, defibrillator, blood oximeter, narcotics log as appropriateFunctions as circulating techFunctions as scrub assistant during proceduresEducate as necessary and maintain knowledge of moderate sedation guidelinesAssists in scheduling of interventional cases between IR, CT, General Diagnostic, and SonoCoordinates daily flow of interventional cases between IR, CT, General Diagnostic, and SonoCoordinates RN resources to holding room, CT, IR, MRI, General Diagnostic, Sono and Nuclear Medicine as dictated by case load.Patient EducationProvides proper explanation of procedures to patients, their families, and others as needed to ensure understanding of procedure.Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patient's / family's age specific needs.Adapts teaching strategies based on patient's response, readiness to learn and level of comprehension.Takes cultural, age-specific, gender, and developmental factors into consideration when teaching patients about procedures, illness, hospital experience, etc.Ensures patient safety in the hospital environment by following policy / procedures and adhering to National Patient Safety Goals.Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education.Utilizes SVI patient education system as a resource for patients and family members.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
