Carleton College invites applications for a visiting faculty position in printmaking and drawing for the 2025-2026 academic year, beginning September 1st, 2025. This position will include teaching 5 courses over three 10-week terms, 3 courses in printmaking and 2 courses in introductory drawing.

About The Position

We seek a candidate to teach courses in various printmaking processes as well as drawing courses. The successful candidate should have experience in one or more printmaking techniques including intaglio, relief, silkscreen, and risography, and also display facility with integrating those traditional analog approaches with photography, digital media, and other innovative image-making technologies. The successful candidate would also possess knowledge and experience employing “greener” practices in a printshop, and work in collaboration with staff supporting the area.

Required Qualifications

  • M.F.A. in Printmaking or relevant field
  • Significant expertise in Printmaking and Drawing
  • Teaching experience at the college level
  • Evidence of an active and emerging exhibition record
  • Demonstrated commitment towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Curriculum development experience at the college level
  • A thorough knowledge of contemporary art practices in diverse cultural contexts
  • Professionally active with a record of creative achievement that may include exhibitions, curatorial projects, conference presentations or publications

About The Department Of Art And Art History

The Art and Art History Department at Carleton offers two separate majors in Studio Art and Art History as well as one minor in Art History. The core mission of the Studio Art program is to introduce students to tools and processes of art-making, and help them develop their own creative abilities. We share a commitment to the value of traditional manual skills while encouraging experimentation and an expansive and expanding idea about art’s role in the broader culture.

The Department is housed in Boliou Memorial Hall and features studios devoted to photography, ceramics, metalsmithing, painting and drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and woodworking. The Department also maintains studio space in the Weitz Center for Creativity, Carleton’s state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary center for the arts, which also houses the Perlman Teaching Museum and multiple uniquely flexible work and performance spaces.

Benefits

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $63,980. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. Carleton also offers a robust suite of benefits including:
