Responsibilities
- Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Occupational Safety and Health Programs for Carlile’s eight terminal locations and local and line-haul routes.
- Serve as the principal company representative for all regulatory inspections; provide guidance and ensure HSSE compliance.
- Perform Root Cause Accident Investigations, including taking statements and producing analysis of incidents with recommendations for remedial action.
- Ensure safe handling and documentation of hazardous materials and waste.
- Develop, implement, train, and monitor OSHA, DOT, EPA, and DOD programs for multiple terminals in various states.
- Ensure compliance with company Safety Permit and renewal requirements.
- Chair monthly Safety committee meetings and maintain minutes.
- Conduct on-site visits to evaluate and audit HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform inspections of work sites for compliance with OSHA standards, including hazardous materials, life safety, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and fire hazard exposures.
- Review incident investigation reports and analyze recommendations for corrective action.
- Develop post-inspection written reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage PPE / work uniform program.
- Oversee and assist in the development of internal audits and participate in annual safety audits.
- Maintain safety files and records; submit required reports to the parent company and prepare management reports as needed.
- Prepare an annual OSHA log and ensure it is posted.
- Maintain contact with regulatory agencies, insurance inspectors, and safety consultants as required.
- Participate as a member of the Saltchuk safety committee.
- Other duties as assigned.

This job operates in a professional office / warehouse environment, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. There may be exposure to weather conditions as well as hazardous chemicals and airborne pathogens.
