Job Summary:
The Superintendent will provide on-site coordination of all phases of commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendent will be responsible for jobsite scheduling, inspections, quality control, and jobsite safety
The Superintendent will be expected to be knowledgeable of construction trades related to ground-up and greenfield contracting; including all the trades listed in Superintendent and others such as concrete forming, reinforcing, and placement; underground utilities; stormwater management; erosion and sedimentation control; site grading; excavation; flexible and aggregate paving; structural erection procedures and quality control; Medium Voltage power distribution; process mechanical fluid distribution; and others not specifically enumerated.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises, trains, and leads Foremen and Construction Laborers (Carlisle Construction Employees).
- Supervises all subcontractors, consultants, and vendors on the jobsite on a daily basis.
- Ensure adequate manpower is available for each task
- Ensure quality and code-compliant work is performed on the project.
- Responsible for job-site security
Duties and Requirements:
- Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion on jobs with durations up to 52 weeks, and occasionally longer
- Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
- Communicate with project team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s, and Material Submittals.
- Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
- Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
- Maintain daily log (written) of activities on the jobsite.
- Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team.
- Walk the project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning
- Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work.
- Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
- Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
- Secondary Functions:
- Assist in budgeting, bidding, and award of subcontracts.
- Assist in obtaining permits or approval of revisions.
- Identify areas of work that are outside of subcontracted scope.
- Preside at pre-construction meeting with each subcontractor.
- Opening the jobsite at beginning of the day and securing the jobsite at the end of the day.
- Assist in hiring sub-tier employees.

- Ability to identify deficient work
- Ability to read Blueprints and Specifications
- Ability to physically visit all areas of the jobsite, including elevated work areas; elevated work platforms; excavations and trenches; partially constructed areas; and areas with unstable footing.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, etc.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least five years of verifiable supervisory construction experience.
At least ten years of verifiable construction industry experience.
GWCSS Level 1a Blue Card Holder
At least one certification from ACI, AWS, or AISC
OSHA 30 Hour Extension course
EM 385-1-1 training
EM 385-1-1 fall protection competent person
USACE CQM Training
Competent person in
- Scaffolding Inspection
- Excavation and Trenching
- Equipment operation
- Elevated Work Platform Operation
- Fall Protection
- All other duties as assigned
Additional current construction industry credentials or certifications preferred.
