We are seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator for our home office located in downtown Memphis, TN. This position is not remote and will report daily to our office located in downtown Memphis.
Position Summary:
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for supporting the overall effectiveness of the organization by ensuring compliance will all state and federal wage regulations.
The Payroll Coordinator will establish themselves as a strategic team member and they will work closely with managers and field employees to support the needs of each region, district and restaurant and will operate with some independence to ensure fairness and objectivity for all employees, while supporting our vision, mission and values.
They will participate in various personnel-related functions, including benefits, payroll and compensation administration, compliance, internal communications, training and workforce analysis, in addition to performing general clerical and administrative duties.
The Payroll Coordinator may support the Accounting Department by performing other duties within the department, as assigned by the Director, and they will maintain the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality, as they are exposed to sensitive Company and employee information.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a professional demeanor in all interactions with visitors, vendors and business partners.
- Ensures employee records are updated accurately and timely.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining employee records; employee changes are entered correctly and on a timely basis; reviews changes for proper authorization and adherence to APA policy including compliance with federal/state/local regulations
- Ensures all payrolls are successfully processed and additional special payrolls runs as needed; maintains individual payroll records for payroll groups and ensures that adjustments are made and tracked appropriately
- Responsible for output reports, reconciliations and that data needed by other departments are issued promptly and accurately
- Responsible for adherence to FLSA; monitors submissions of approved time sheets, ensures valid data transfers to/from payroll service
- Serves as a contact with service providers on all payroll-related issues.
- Reconciles year-end reports to quarterly reports in preparation for issuing W-2 forms.
- Participates in special projects with payroll, human resources and accounting as assigned.
Successful candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business administration or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing
- In depth knowledge of multi-state wage and hour laws
- Knowledge in laws and regulations affecting payroll along with payroll practices and principles
- Proficient with MS Office and Workday
- Able to manage multiple tasks, projects and meet deadlines
- Detail oriented with strong problem solving/analytical skills
- Ability to proactively identify and develop effective solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to work with employees at all levels
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
