POSITION TITLE: Head Lifeguard and Swim Meet Manager
COMPANY: Carmel Swim Academy/Carmel Swim Club
LOCATION: Carmel, IN
PAY RANGE: $18-$20/hour
JOB TYPE: YEAR ROUND: Applicant must be available to work year round, this is not a seasonal position.
Part-time, hourly. 30-40 hours a week.
Over-time (time and a half) will be paid for over 40 hours.
All training time is paid.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: HEAD LIFEGUARD
- Performs as a leader and role model for other staff members and patrons.
- Shows up for work on time, in the correct uniform, and ready to work.
- Knows and practices all emergency procedures and responds accordingly, which includes attending all staff meetings and in-service training.
- Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and staff.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the aquatic area.
- Advancement opportunities: Help train new lifeguards in CSA policies, help conduct lifeguard in-service training, help with lifeguard training for NEW lifeguards (if/when certified).
- Will train and serve as a Building Supervisor during director absence.
- Provide supervisory assistance with hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff.
- Provides and coordinates proper on deck supervision of staff, appropriate levels of lifeguard coverage, lifeguard attentiveness, proper lifeguard rotations, facility inspections and closing facility or attractions when required by health and safety guidelines.
- Will be asked to vacuum the Carmel Swim Academy pool twice a month. Employee would be able to create their own schedule for this.
- Help manage, supervisor, and guard any special CSA events that do not interfere with swim meets or other head guard responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: SWIM MEET MANAGER
- Helps set up and tear down Carmel Swim Club and Carmel High School swim meets.
- Expected to be available for the majority of the swim meets.
- Meets are scheduled in advance
- Meets are scheduled during the week and on weekends.
- Will operate swim meet computer systems to help with swim meet function
- Training provided
- This part of the position is new and would be created as swim meets are scheduled.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding.
- CSA will accept certifications from the following organizations: American Red Cross, STARGUARD Elite, Ellis and Associates.
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with certification standards and CSA expectations.
- Instructor level certification is a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of Meet Manager and Colorado Timing Systems is preferred, but not required.
AVAILABILITY:
- Open. MUST be able to work 30-40 hours per week.

- Split Shifts (work in the morning and then maybe again in the evening after a break for a few hours)
