Job Summary:
Carnegie Corporation of New York (“the Corporation”) has opening for an Investment Analyst in its Investment Department. This position will report directly to the Managing Director, and will provide support to the Directors, Managing Directors and CIO. The position will work collaboratively with a second investment analyst as well as two operational and one administrative support staff.
Investment Department Overview:
The Corporation adheres to a spending policy that is designed to weather short-term market fluctuations to provide better predictability and long-term stability for grant making. It is the role of the Investment Department to develop an investment strategy and manage the endowment to support the Corporation’s grant making efforts in bad times as well as good in order to fulfill Andrew Carnegie’s legacy of using private wealth for the public good in perpetuity.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Analyze the Corporation’s existing and potential investments using a variety of performance and risk measurement techniques.
- Assist the senior staff in monitoring investments by meeting with investment managers and creating research based on these interactions.
- Create statistical analysis and general research related to the capital markets.
- Produce reports and presentations for various stakeholders including the Corporation’s investment team, administration, and investment committee.
- Attend and produce research from industry events to broaden the team’s network and knowledge base.
- Perform special projects as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record and up to two years of work experience.
Experience with investments desirable but not required, though it would be helpful for candidates to be familiar with the basic principles of finance, investments and accounting. - Excellent analytical and writing skills.
- Strong interest in global financial markets.
- Commitment to the Corporation’s mission and a desire to work in the field of endowment management.
- Collegial attitude and a willingness to perform a wide range of tasks.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Salary Range:
- $100,000 - $113,000 Annually
