About PLUS:

PLUS is an award-winning human-AI math tutoring program that aims to double the rate of math learning in middle school students, especially those from low-income families. PLUS is operated by CMU in collaboration with Carnegie Learning and Stanford University and is led by Prof. Ken Koedinger and Shiv Gupta. 

The PLUS program features a hybrid tutoring platform that combines human and AI tutoring to deliver personalized learning for each student. PLUS Tutoring serves thousands of students in over a dozen schools across the country.

About The Role:

As a Tutor Supervisor at PLUS, you will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, managing, and deploying tutors at our partner school sites.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Recruiting, onboarding, and supervising college tutors
  • Working across cross-functional teams to coordinate and schedule the tutoring program at partner schools.
  • Meetings and regular communication with PLUS leaders and school administrators
  • Conducting orientation and training for new tutors in conjunction with learning engineers
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with school administration, classroom teachers, tutors, and students
  • Maintaining files and records of tutoring activities and for each tutored student
  • Providing feedback on tutor performance to ensure a positive learning experience for tutors involved in the program.
  • Develop, facilitate, and evaluate math tutor training resources.
  • Coordinate weekly training workshops in partnership with faculty and other staff.
  • Manage payroll approval processes.

What You Bring:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Must have the willingness to engage with and mentor college students.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple ongoing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to implementing inclusive practices.
  • Growth-focused mindset with an emphasis on mentoring students
     

Recommended:

  • Master’s degree or above
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Previous experience running a tutoring program and supervising student employees.

Requirements:

  • Successful background check
  • Ability to obtain PA Act 153 clearances.
