Carolina Battery Institute, Inc. (CBI), a nonprofit workforce training organization founded by Soelect Inc. in 2023, aims to advance U.S. clean energy work-based learning programs, supporting high-paying and advanced manufacturing jobs in the battery industry through strategic collaboration. CBI offers the nation's first hands-on training program focused on lithium-ion battery electrode fabrication and assembly at the technician level. It partners with local community colleges in the Triad area, governmental organizations, and other institutions to develop and implement these programs.
Position Brief
· Contract Position: Battery Manufacturing Instructor (Lecture & Lab)
· Duration: Per course (40 hours in 5weeks) starting in October 2024, Saturdays, 8:30am- 5:00pm / Greensboro, NC
· Range: Negotiable based on hands-on and teaching experience
Qualifications
· PhD, MS, or BS in a relevant field, with post-degree experience in the lithium-ion battery industry and/or academia.
· Hands-on laboratory and manufacturing experience, from electrode fabrication to cell assembly, is required, rather than just paper-based instructions.
· Pouch cell assembly experience is preferred but not required.
· Demonstrated teaching and lab experience in both classroom and lab.
· Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to support students for extra hours if needed.
· Strong documentation skill for preparing teaching materials is required.
Roles & Responsibilities
· This role is expected to dedicate Saturdays to in-person course lectures and lab training throughout the assignment period.
- Developing and updating PPT course materials that can be used across several platforms.
- Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
- Providing support to trainees, volunteers and other admins.
