Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Security System Technician to join the Carolina Burglar & Fire Alarm team. Carolina Burglar & Fire Alarm has been the premier security solutions provider in the Upstate since 1974.
Job responsibilities include installing, testing, repairing, and servicing low voltage electrical and electro-mechanical equipment related to security and safety systems, in residential and commercial facilities.
This position requires a candidate to possess some low voltage experience and/or an electrical certification. Carolina Burglar & Fire Alarm will provide additional on-the-job training.
Duties
- Install, program, and troubleshoot low voltage panels, wiring and associated devices.
- Utilize web-based security system portal to edit customer information, perform system updates, and troubleshoot system issues
- Install, program, and troubleshoot security sensors (motion detectors, glass break detectors, magnetic contacts, etc.).
- Install, program, and troubleshoot camera systems (cameras, video recorders, point-to-point transmitters, etc.).
- Service burglar alarm systems, fire alarm systems, networking, hosted video solutions, and access control.
- Validate system signals/communication with central monitoring to properly establish service.
- Perform system testing after installation.
- Effectively communicate system operation and functionality with customers.
- Maintains the necessary truck stock/inventory (equipment and tools).
- Organizes and utilizes technical resources, information, material, and support to ensure efficient execution of assigned tasks.
- Complete and submit all Work Orders to accurately reflect work status.
- Perform facility walkthrough to determine optimal system configuration taking into consideration wiring limitations.
- Establish safety as the highest priority and actively demonstrate its importance across all work environments.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintain all company equipment, including truck, tools, inventory, etc.
Experience
- Minimum 2-year low voltage experience and/or electrical wiring certification
- Familiarity with security system programming, IP/Analog cameras, and fire systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and customer databases
