What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at CAROLINA LEGAL ASSOCIATES?
CLA has an immediate need for multiple experienced insurance defense paralegals for prominent law firms in Columbia, SC. The ideal candidates must have 3-5 years of experience working in a defense law firm and be able to hit the ground running. Sample responsibilities:
- Preparation and service of Pleadings
- Maintaining case documents/databases
- Reviewing case documents and preparing case chronologies
- Preparing the first draft of discovery including drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production, and requests to admit
- Drafting and serving subpoenas
- Legal Document preparation and drafting including pleadings, motions, trial documents, etc.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and SC Civil Procedure requirements
- Must be comfortable with state and federal e-filing
Minimum requirements and other qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal Certificate
- 2-3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal at a law firm
- Great customer service skills, both in-person and over the phone
- Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision
- Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to multitask and prioritize caseload and daily tasks
- Experience with case management system, such as Time Matters or Clio, is a plus
