What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist - Duncan position at Carolina Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Associates?
Medical Insurance Billing Specialist needed for busy multi-disciplinary practice.
Essential Functions
- Provide customer service on the telephone and in the office for all patients and authorized representatives regarding patient accounts in accordance with practice protocol.
- Set up payment arrangements, collecting accounts, and monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts.
- Monitor and resolve claim discrepancies, including but not limited to clearinghouse rejections and claim denials.
- Understanding of insurance billing and payment processing, as well as ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Calculating and collecting payments for services like procedures, tests, or surgeries
- Submit primary and secondary insurance claims electronically daily and on HCFA to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Adhere to all practice policies related to HIPAA and Medicare Compliance.
- Obtain prior authorizations for specialty medications and Veterans Administration.
Candidate must have previous medical billing experience as well as possess the following skills:
