Dining Services Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum age of 18 years or older is required for this position due to Department of Labor regulations.
2. Education: High school diploma required. Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required (will certify on site if needed).
3. Experience: Minimum of one year experience working with a frail or elderly population required. Two years experience in the food service industry supervising others is strongly preferred. One year experience in health care setting is preferred. Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) is preferred. Certification as a ServSafe Food Protection Manager is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Under the direction of the Dietitian, recruits and retains adequate numbers of qualified staff to meet staffing, productivity, and utilization goals.
2. Evaluates, trains, and supervises Dining Services staff. Provides in-services for staff on nutrition and food service issues.
3. Plans work schedules and assigns hours and areas of work to ensure adequate services for assigned areas of center.
4. Ensures implementation of current policies and procedures concerning food procurement, preparation and service, which reflect compliance with regulatory and facility guidelines.
5. Assures that dietary expenses are within budgetary limits. Maintain current written records of department expenditures and provide documentation, records and cost reports to the appropriate administrators as required.
6. In collaboration with the Dietitian, ensures that physician orders and established dietary care plans are followed in processing regular diets, new diets, and diet changes.
7. Ensures that the following logs are completed on a daily basis:
Freezer and Refrigerator Temperature
Sanitizer Water Temperature
Serving food temperature
8. Oversees maintenance/cleanliness and orderliness of serving kitchen. Monitors portion control; appropriate serving of food; adherence to therapeutic diets, purchasing and inventory of food.
9. In conjunction with the Dietitian, responsible for the management of therapeutic diets, including modification to meet individual participant needs, and physician orders.
10. Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications.
11. The ideal candidate should possess strong culinary skills. This includes, but is not limited to, recipe preparation, cooking techniques, and food preparation.
12. Performs related duties as required.
