Maintenance Technician 2 is responsible for performing advanced maintenance and repair tasks across various facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical equipment. This role also provides guidance and direction to Maintenance Tech 1 team members, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely while maintaining facility standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Tech 1s

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility equipment, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and mechanical skills.
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and prevent equipment failure.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs.
  • Assist in diagnosing complex issues and recommend solutions to the Maintenance Director.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules to extend the life of equipment and reduce downtime.
  • Assist in lubricating, cleaning, and adjusting mechanical systems.
  • Replace light fixtures, air filters, belts, and other small components as needed.
  • Assist and support Maintenance Tech 1 team members, ensuring work is completed efficiently and correctly.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to Maintenance Tech 1s.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.
  • Follow and enforce OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry safety standards.
  • Ensure proper tools, equipment, and personal protective gear are worn as required.
  • Conduct safety inspections and report any hazards or necessary improvements to Lead Tech or Maintenance Director.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inspections.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies needed for repairs.
  • Assist in ordering and restocking necessary materials to avoid downtime.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in facility operations and maintenance procedures to Lead Tech.
  • Assist in facilities upgrades, renovations, and equipment installations.
  • Work with Lead Tech to develop and implement efficiency initiatives.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and plumbing issues.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to mentor Maintenance Tech 1 team members.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) (preferred).
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene.

Qualification, Education, and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred and/or 3 year of experience in maintenance, facilities repair, or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical and general building maintenance or construction (preferred).
  • Experience leading or mentoring (preferred).
  • Previous trade work (preferred).

Licensure/Certification Responsibility Requirements:

  • Technical certifications or vocational training (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.).
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend and climb ladders as needed.
  • Lift up to 10 to 25 lbs: Constantly

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
