Electrical Construction Estimator
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and healthcare electrical projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of electrical control systems, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the full scope of work and necessary estimate components.
Interpret and analyze commercial, industrial, and healthcare electrical schematics, applications, codes, specifications, and drawings.
Develop comprehensive and disciplined estimates by conducting complete take-offs of the required scope of work.
Generate project budgets using historical data and limited information.
Coordinate and oversee the estimating efforts for assigned projects.
Review and approve take-offs and estimates prepared by estimator trainees.
Submit competitive bids and proposals for estimated projects.
Provide detailed breakdowns of estimates and relay essential cost information to Project Managers.
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current pricing information from suppliers.
Improve and update the computer-estimating system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in pricing, labor, and other key factors.
Introduce better and more efficient estimating procedures to enhance accuracy and workflow.
Schedule estimate backlog to determine the necessary number of estimators required for project completion.
Prepare reports and documentation as required.
Identify and introduce cost-saving opportunities through Value Engineering and redesign strategies.
Work closely with preconstruction, operations, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Establish and maintain relationships with general contractors and customers to enhance business opportunities.
Follow up on submitted proposals, gather relevant data, and refine estimating processes accordingly.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience in electrical estimating within commercial, industrial, or healthcare construction projects.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, specifications, and industry standards.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools used for take-offs and cost analysis.
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret and analyze blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines effectively.
