Prefabrication Shop Manager
MetroPower is currently hiring for a Prefabrication Project Manager. This person will be responsible for managing projects under the direction of the Prefabrication Manager as a supervising contributor. This role requires using computer-aided design programs such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Revit to create detailed and accurate schematics, models, designs, and drawings for prefabrication & installation using information from field staff layouts and contract drawings. Other duties include collaboration and coordination with field leadership to ensure client satisfaction of job specific design elements as well as production scheduling, drawing quality control, and problem resolution. The Prefabrication Project Manager will oversee other Designer/Drafters in the department and share innovative ideas that may improve the quality of their designs for the most efficient electrical installations possible.
Prefabrication Shop:
Provide direction to production team by assigning tasks, directing the efficient use of labor and holding the team accountable for labor units, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of products.
Read and understand any assembly instructions, worksheets, or drawings provided.
Create task specific Bill of Materials (BOMs) for prefabricated products.
Manage warehouse functions such as receiving material, inventory controls, and the organization, storage and handling of large quantities of building materials.
Conduct Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) checks that maintain and improve standards for the construction of prefabricated products.
Safely load and unload trucks by hand or with equipment.
Packaging and palletizing products while maintaining strict adherence to quality guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized production shop that is free of clutter and hazards and stocked with all necessary materials and tools.
Keep track of storage and maintenance for prefabrication tools and equipment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school graduate, General Education Development (GED) or equivalent education.
Must have a desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute immediately.
Must have a positive attitude towards Prefabrication and have a desire for the department to succeed.
Previous experience in the electrical construction industry - Required
1-5 years of previous management experience - Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read drawings and blueprints, interpret them, and translate that data into meaningful information
- Proficient and current with the National Electrical Code and Life Safety Codes
- Proficient with power, lighting, and lighting control systems’ design
- Strong leadership skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to encourage and promote the needs of the department with others, both inside and outside of the organization, while exhibiting professional customer service skills
- Effective communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage the department’s resources effectively and , balance workloads as demand dictates
- Must have a good attitude, a drive for success, and a desire to contribute immediately
- Must be able to develop the respect and trust of senior leadership within the company and train others within the department
- Practices and comprehends safe working procedures as outlined in the MetroPower Safety Handbook
