Job Description
The Account Specialist is responsible for managing patient accounts, ensuring accurate billing, and supporting financial operations within the dental office.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
• Monitor and maintain patient balances, process refunds for patients and insurance companies, and place overdue accounts into collections as needed.• Review Accounts Receivable reports on a scheduled rotation, follow up on outstanding insurance claims and patient balances, and ensure timely claim resolution.• Work problem Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), address claim denials, and process appeals to maximize reimbursements.• Assisting patients with financial inquiries and payment plans.• Work closely with office staff and insurance providers to reconcile accounts, generate reports, and maintain compliance with billing regulations.
Administrative Responsibilities:
• Managing emails to the Receivables and Refunds account • Participates in special projects and tasks as assigned • Fills in for other CD RCT members as needed • Assists and conducts training of new CD RCT members • Attends and contributes to monthly meetings • Reports to CD RCM with any grievances or issues
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Prior experience in dental office administration, billing, or insurance claims processing required.• Familiarity with dental terminology, procedures, CDT codes, and insurance claim forms (ADA dental claim form).• Strong understanding of dental insurance policies, coverage limitations, and claim submission processes.• Ability to accurately review claims, identify errors, and ensure completeness.• Strong verbal and written communication for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance companies.• Experience with dental practice management software and administrative tools.• Ability to troubleshoot claim issues, billing errors, and insurance discrepancies efficiently.• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and adherence to legal and ethical billing practices.
