What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Support Specialist position at Caroline County Public Schools?
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Technology, the Technology Support Specialist is responsible for the ongoing support of technology services of all school facilities. This two (2) year grant-funded position is a 12-month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Basic understanding of Macintosh and iOS devices and a variety of hardware and software including, but not limited to, networked copiers/printers, interactive boards, document cameras and projectors.
- Basic understanding of digital WAN and LAN computer networks.
- Ability to work independently on a variety of assigned skills with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and vendors who are at various levels of technology proficiency.
- Available for flexible working hours.
- Must have a valid MD State Driver's License that includes an acceptable driving record.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Installs, configures, maintains and provides training for District computers and related instructional technology hardware and software under the direction of the Supervisor of Technology.
- Inputs and updates the Technology Ticket/Inventory system as required.
- Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and brings these failures to a satisfactory resolution.
- Researches and evaluates new technologies as assigned and/or approved by the Supervisor of Technology.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to work on a step ladder.
- Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
- Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.

Experience with any of the following:
- MDM (Mobile Device Management)
- Database development
- Programming languages
- Google (Admin level)
- Hardware repair
- Digital Networking
- VOIP
- A or other technology certifications
- Degree in a technology-related field
- Previous experience working in a technology-related field
- Previous experience working in a school system
- Security Systems (Cameras, Locks & Badge Swipes)
PAY & HOURS: This two (2) year grant-funded position is a 12-month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Support Salary Scale. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills and abilities related to this position. T
