Metallurgical Lab Technician The Metallurgical Lab Technician will . . . Prepare samples for analysis/examination and carry out a limited range of basic metallurgical services under direct supervision. Perform mechanical and magnetic tests on standard equipment, such as hardness testing, tension, tensile, resistivity etc. Perform metallographic tests using etchants, polishing equipment, and standard metallographic equipment. Collect and record test data obtained during the evaluation. This position can be located in any of the following areas: Mechanical Testing, Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetic Testing or Heat Treating. Perform other assignments and special projects as needed. Requirements for the Met Lab Technician High School Diploma required. Entry level experience with 0-1 years of relevant experience. Preferred: Lab experience Willingness to work with chemicals such as acids/etchants Working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions. Ability to conduct entry level activities and operate basic metallurgical / lab equipment. Willingness to work in a fast paced, production-oriented environment with frequently changing priorities. Ability to work in a production-oriented environment. Ability to work with direct supervision. Ability to manage one’s own time to meet deadlines through guidance of others within a specific time frame.
