JOB SUMMARY:  The Pastry Chef at the Carriage House is responsible for creating, developing, and executing a variety of high-quality pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods. This role requires a deep understanding of traditional and modern pastry techniques, a creative approach to menu development, and strong attention to detail. The Pastry Chef works closely with both the Chef de Cuisine and the Culinary Director to ensure that dessert offerings align with the overall culinary vision, while maintaining consistency, creativity, and compliance with health and safety regulations. QUALIFICATIONS:  Education: Degree in pastry arts or equivalent professional experience in a pastry kitchen.  Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Pastry Chef or a senior role in a high-volume kitchen or private club. • Skills: o Expertise in pastry, baking, and dessert techniques. o Creative and innovative approach to menu development. o Strong organizational and time management skills. o Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. o Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Pastry & Dessert Creation:  Design and execute a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.  Maintain the highest standards of quality, flavor, and aesthetics for all pastry items. • Ensure that all dishes meet established portion sizes, presentation, and recipe specifications. Menu Development & Innovation:  Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine and Culinary Director to develop seasonal and signature pastry menus that complement the overall dining experience.  Stay updated with pastry trends and incorporate innovative techniques and flavors into dessert offerings. Kitchen & Staff Management:  Manage the daily operations of the pastry kitchen, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.  Train and supervise junior pastry staff and assistants, ensuring proper techniques are followed and standards are met.  Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and all related equipment. Quality Control:  Conduct regular quality checks on all pastry items to ensure consistency, presentation, and excellence.  Ensure that all ingredients used are of the highest quality and that freshness is maintained. Health & Safety:  Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring that the pastry kitchen meets food safety standards.  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment for all pastry team members. Inventory Management:  Manage inventory levels for pastry ingredients, ensuring that supplies are adequate and fresh.  Place orders for necessary ingredients and equipment, while controlling costs and minimizing waste. CUSTOMER FOCUS:  Occasionally engage with guests to gather feedback on desserts and pastries, addressing any specific dietary requests or preferences.  Work closely with the front-of-house staff to ensure seamless dessert service and guest satisfaction. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:  Passionate about pastry arts and innovation.  Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to precision and consistency.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Adaptable, with a willingness to receive and implement feedback. 6. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation.  Able to lift and carry containers and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.  Able to manipulate pastry tools and equipment, requiring dexterity and fine motor skills.  Able to work in environments with extreme temperatures (e.g., ovens and freezers).  Able to stand for extended periods of time and navigate through the kitchen.
