Description
Carris Reels, the Plywood Division, is seeking a skilled assembler experienced in general repair and painting of plywood reels to join our Recycling Department in the repair and maintenance of reels. The primary responsibilities of this role include repairing reels damaged by wear or breakage, preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning with air or wire brush, applying coatings to protect against corrosion, and ensuring a high-quality finish, tightening or replacing bolts. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, knowledge of painting techniques and the use of various tools such as: grinding wheel, sledgehammer, cutting equipment, etc.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate repairs to be made to reels.
- Perform grinding and dent removal of components to be repaired.
- Prepare reels for painting by cleaning surfaces.
- Ensure a high-quality finish on all painted surfaces.
- Maintain equipment and tools used in repair and painting processes.
- Always adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
- Keep your workstation clean and organized.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Steady work history
- Previous experience working in manufacturing a plus
- Must be able to stand, bend, twist/squat during entire shift
- Must be able to work in hot warehouse environment
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Industrial or manufacturing experience working with machines, hand tools, and industrial components
- Knowledge of different types of coatings and application techniques
- Be able to read, write and do simple math.
- Know how to read and use a tape measure.
- Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to wear a PPE
