Job Summary:
POSITION GOAL: To provide compassion and dedication to students while addressing the psychological, behavioral, and social well being of students and parents in a school setting.
CONSULTS WITH: Teachers, Students, Administration and School Nurses
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Counseling students with behavior issues that affect their performance and socialization in school.
- Meet with individual students, treatment plans, or workshops as necessary and establish prevention programs and intervention plans for classroom and building success.
- Collaboration with building administration, school counselors, juvenile court school liaison and district social worker.
- Attend all weekly building data team meetings.
- Communicating with students to determine the areas in which they may need assistance or counseling.
- Assisting teachers and administrators with behavioral and attitude issues by communicating with students to find the causes of their distress in school and in the classroom.
- Assisting at-risk students or students with disabilities.
- Communicating with parents, teachers, and administrators to understand students' challenges.
- Developing classroom management plans for teachers and administrators.
- Mentoring teachers to better serve students with behavior plans.
- Maintaining case files and reports to track students' progress and problems for the district.
- BA or MA in Social Work, License and Certification to practice Social Work or a teaching certificate.
- Experience in School Social Work may be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion and empathy for patients and students.
- Professionalism and discretion.
- Good relationships with relevant social services.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principals and superintendent.
